Have you ever believed that someone’s love for you was dependent on your behavior? If you did a better job at your chores, your parents would love you more? If you behaved more like other people, they would accept you and love you? If you were a better spouse….If….?
Is your love for others conditional upon their behavior? What can they do for you? How they treat you? If they agree with you on certain matters including religious and political matters?
Fortunately for us, Christ’s love comes without conditions. He loves each of us – faults, short comings, and all!
Jesus’ love never changes. It doesn’t matter how well I do or how bad I do. Andrew McCutchen
Through our belief in Christ as our Savior, our faith in Him, we are saved. Not because we tithe, not because we volunteer for worthwhile causes, or because we treat others with love and compassion. We should do all these things and more out of love for Christ. We are however, saved because of our faith alone. Warts and all, Christ loves each one of us.
He does tell us to love the Lord our God with all our heart and soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. (Mark 12:30-31) Today where many are made to feel inadequate, I would say, let us love others as Christ loves us – warts and all.
Just For Today – show someone outside your comfort zone, the same love Christ shows for you.
May your day be blessed!
