What holds significance in your life? Is it family, career, or perhaps the pursuit of fame and recognition? Is success, defined in your own terms, your ultimate goal? Some find joy in ticking off items from their bucket list, whether it involves traveling, completing tasks, or reaching specific milestones. For others, the daily struggle to pay bills and put food on the table takes precedence.

For Jesus, the paramount priority is his Father’s kingdom. This conviction is evident in the 40 days between his resurrection and ascension, during which he passionately shared this message with the apostles.

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many
convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period
of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
Acts 1
:3

While worldly possessions may make life more comfortable and enjoyable, they cannot save you. True salvation comes only through Jesus Christ.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other
name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12

In the realm of the church, Jesus stands as the sole leader—the head, senior pastor, and senior elder. He guides all church ministries, and as members of the church, he is our ultimate leader too.

And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
Col 1:18

Following Jesus’ instruction, we are called to be witnesses to the world, proclaiming that salvation is found in Him alone. His message is universal, transcending race, gender, culture, citizenship, and background.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free,
nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:28

Though we refer to the physical space where we gather as “our church,” it extends beyond the building and even its believers. The Acts of the Apostles reveal that the “church” is a dynamic movement, urging us to go out into the world and make disciples.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8

This mission, as seen in Acts 1:8, is our great commission—to be witnesses of Christ to the ends of the earth. What transpired in Acts continues today, as the church comprises those called to serve Jesus. Our duty is to be witnesses, belonging to Jesus, making disciples, and proclaiming Him as the Lord of our lives.

Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple
must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
Luke 9:23

Challenge for this week: Let’s intentionally live as disciples of Jesus—being one and making one!
