When it rains, it pours—or so the saying goes. But for us this past month, it has felt more like a flood. We’ve faced the loss of a dear friend, endured two hurricanes, been displaced from our home by flooding, and said goodbye to our beloved Australian Shepherd, Cooper. Some might wonder how, in the midst of all this, we could still feel grateful to God during the Thanksgiving season.
Yet through all these challenges, God’s blessings have been undeniable. We’ve discovered friends we didn’t even know we had, connected with neighbors whose names we hadn’t known before, and experienced incredible acts of kindness. Strangers showed us compassion by opening their own home to us while they were away—an act of trust that humbled us. Friends, family, and coworkers from Pasco County and even other states reached out, and more importantly, they prayed for us.
I know God is real because I couldn’t have navigated these storms without Him. I’ve seen His hand at work through the people He brought into our lives—truly, they have been God-sent. It reminds me of a time when I nearly drowned in the ocean. It was only when I stopped fighting against the waves that I was rescued. Back then, I didn’t recognize God’s hand in my saving, but today, I can see it clearly in our current struggles. His presence has been undeniable.
And here’s the thing: God can rescue you too. We often believe we can manage life on our own, thinking we don’t need anyone’s help, not even God’s. But one day, we realize we can’t bear the weight of the world by ourselves. Christ offers to carry that weight for you, if you’ll let Him. He will carry you through the hurts, the pain, the hurricanes, and yes, even the floodwaters. When you feel alone, overwhelmed, and as though you can’t take any more, He will be there. He is the one who will carry you through the storms of life.
Instead of fighting the waves, why not surrender and Just For Today let God carry you to calm waters?
God bless!
